LeBlanc (& co.) Communications is a social impact communications agency. We partner with movements, nonprofits, labour, philanthropy, and values-driven organizations to advance justice through strategy, campaigns, brand, web, and training.

Role Summary

The Business Development Lead drives revenue for LeBlanc (& co.) Communications by leading business development and visibility for the business. Working closely with the CEO and Director of Operations, you will identify and create new opportunities, respond to inbound inquiries, and elevate our presence across priority sectors. You’ll lead proposal development, guide our marketing efforts, and help shape how the firm shows up in target markets. While this role will encompass both business development and marketing, the primary focus is sales and business development.

Reports to: Director of Operations

Job Activities

Sales and Business Development  

  • Lead the full client procurement pipeline.
  • Conduct light research before outreach or calls.
  • Lead or co-lead inquiry calls as a front-facing representative of the firm.
  • Develop proposals; scope projects; draft and coordinate proposals through final submission.
  • Ensure proposals are written with a high level of attention to detail and tailoring per sector.
  • Closely maintain and monitor the leads pipeline and manage follow-up.
  • Support revenue goals by identifying new leads and project opportunities, conducting market research, proactive outreach, and monitoring procurement platforms for RFPs.
  • Identify, develop, and implement sales and marketing strategies that align with company goals.
  • Provide regular reports on lead procurement, proposals, and other outreach.
  • Build and nurture relationships with values-aligned potential partners.

Visibility + Marketing 

  • Manage a living 12-month marketing and visibility calendar.
  • Lead social media and newsletter planning, scheduling, and publishing.
  • Plan and write blog posts.
  • Lead pre-production, post-production, and marketing for the podcast (with support from subcontractors).
  • Lead development of case studies showcasing our work.

Other

  • Represent the agency at online and in-person events such as conferences, networking spaces, coffee chats (may include travel).
  • Support the Director of Operations with admin tasks related to business development and marketing.
  • Support team in developing skills related to business development.
  • Support the team in developing marketing materials and client-facing decks.

Desirable but not required

  • Experience in social impact work (nonprofit, labour, philanthropy, public sector, etc.)
  • Fluency in French
  • Basic graphic design experience
  • Podcast/audio editing experience
  • Experience in an agency or freelance business environment

Key Details

Annual Salary: $70,000

Work hours: LeBlanc (& co.) Communications has a 4 day (32 hour) work week for salaried employees, from Monday-Thursday. 

Vacation: We provide 4 weeks vacation per year; plus a company shutdown between Christmas Eve and New Year’s.

Location: This role will be hybrid in Canada with a mix of primarily virtual and some in-person work.

Contract Length: Permanent

Health Benefits: This position will come with a partial subsidy of health benefits.

This position requires the ability to work in Canada.

The CEO and Director of Operations are dedicated to providing training and guidance related to this role.
