Arts Ottawa was launched when Arts Network Ottawa and Ottawa Arts Council merged in January 2025 to create a unified, collective voice for Ottawa’s arts community.

This merger presented an exciting opportunity to bring together the strengths of both organizations and build a stronger foundation for the arts in Ottawa. More information about their merger process and 40 year history of impact can be read on their website.

LeBlanc (& co.) Communications supported Arts Network Ottawa and Ottawa Arts Council with strategic communications throughout their merger process — and then we created the brand and new website for the newly merged organization, Arts Ottawa.

Arts Ottawa’s new visual identity features a bold, modern logo and brand “look and feel” created to communicate both their deep commitment to Ottawa’s arts community and their need to credibly advocate at City Hall. Then, LeBlanc (& co.) Communications designed and developed a user-friendly, accessible website to set Arts Ottawa up for success with community engagement, programs, and advocacy.

In the lead up before Arts Ottawa was launched, LeBlanc (& co.) Communications supported the two predecessor organizations with communications for the merger, including for numerous community engagement opportunities.

We worked alongside the Arts Ottawa team in collaborating with local Ottawa artist, Melanie Yugo, to commission an art piece called Nurture Future that was inspired by Ottawa’s arts community and by the merger process. The artwork served two purposes: firstly to inspire a temporary ‘look and feel’ for the merger discussions before the merger became official, and secondly to inspire the colours for the new Arts Ottawa brand. This creative partnership infused another layer of engagement with Ottawa’s arts community.

Kind words from our client:

Early in the merger process, we realized that having an effective communications plan complemented by a bold new brand was a key component to our new organization’s success. With their expertise, they met the challenge while also sharing industry knowledge that offered new opportunities to explore — always ensuring the organization’s success was front of mind. Putting our faith in the hands of LeBlanc (& co.) allowed us to focus on the macro while the micro was in the best of hands.
